What skills and experience we're looking for

ABOUT THE ROLE

City of London Academies Trust (COLAT) is seeking to appoint a SENCO for September 2024. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEN department alongside the Deputy SENCO, lead on annual reviews, and provide professional guidance to colleagues, working with staff, parents and local authorities. You will be responsible for the Deputy SENCO and six Learning Support Assistants.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced and outstanding teacher looking for a new challenge or to develop your career as a head of department. You will be leading a team and should have the relevant experience managing and motivating staff. You will have great behaviour management strategies and you will also have excellent organisation and communication skills to liaise with students, staff, parents and external organisations.

You will also be required to teach and it is essential for candidates to be able to teach at KS3 and KS4, please state the subjects that you teach in your application. It is highly advantageous if applicants have a specialist qualification related to SEN or the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination. Please state in your application whether you have the required qualification or if you are currently studying for the required qualification. Ideally you will have relevant experience as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO or from other similar positions.
