What skills and experience we're looking for

We require a driver who holds MIDAS certification, clean driving licence with D1 category to drive the school minibuses for staff and pupils as required to various locations for the needs of the school.

In addition to driving duties, the school Minibus driver will be responsible for the operation, care and general maintenance (fuel, water, oil, tyres, cleanliness etc) of the vehicles providing safe and reliable transport provision.

You do not need to be a motor mechanic for this role as vehicles are serviced off-site.

Key Tasks

  • Overall responsibility for the use and maintenance of the school minibuses.
  • To drive the minibus for staff and pupils as required to various locations for the needs of the school. (e.g. trips, sports fixtures)
  • To oversee the roadworthiness of the school minibuses.
  • To carry out day to day maintenance routines and safety checks and assessment of wear and tear.
  • To ensure when vehicles are driven by other members of staff they are checked out and checked back in.
  • Responsible for refuelling the minibuses ensuring it is ready for use at all times.
  • To be responsible for booking regular and required servicing and repairs at garages as designated by the school.
  • To check minibus log sheets daily for reported defects.
  • To be aware and keep informed of relevant Health and Safety Information and requirements relating to the use of minibuses within schools.
  • Responsible for advising Senior Staff of any serious issues with the use of the minibuses or their roadworthiness.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness inside and out of the minibuses washing or valeting if necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring the minibuses are secure and parked appropriately at the school.
  • In the fullness of time, train to become a MIDAS Instructor in order that we can train more staff to enable them to drive minibuses.
  • To be able to provide support and carry out odd jobs for the site Team or other members of the school team as required.
  • To help with car park and gate duties when required.

To undertake any other task commensurate with this role.
